Almighty Lizard Challenge: The Results

wyefhh3

So September 19th rolled around, and we had a pretty glorious and extensive debate on who made the most broken moveset of all time out of previous MYM sets, using Lizard as the user of all these moves because he could buff them. It all ended in a victory for Smash Daddy, who used Valozarg’s Jab and Teferi’s various time manipulation moves, as well as Shedinja’s ability to give itself more stocks. As such, he will win the article for completing the challenge, but we got entries for the other challenges too! Anyway, here are all the entries, thank you all for your participation.

And now for a formal announcement of the winners:

Main Challenge- Smash Daddy

Smady’s ability to infinite foes out of many, many low lag options, including an infinite range one and a high range lagless one, is scary on its own. When you combine it with his ability to generate as many stocks as he wants during the infinite so that one victory is all he needs to never lose again, you have an absolute monster of a set. While UserShadow’s entry can end the match with only a tiny window to ever stop him, Valozarg’s Jab can ultimately overcome him in the end. Warlord, Froy, and Muno’s entries operate on singular stocks, and while they all do some horrifying things, mostly the former two, the fact that they ultimately lose should UserShadow or Smady ever get their gameplan going no matter how many stocks are left makes them weaker at the end of the day.

No Strangelove- UserShadow

UserShadow’s use of time manipulation, Zubat for millions of clones, and Pooh honey allows him to win the match with only a very tiny margin for the opponent to ever interact with him. He’s backed up with instant kills level poison in the situation he’s required to use it, as well as infinite stalling. While he does fall to Smady and perhaps if Warlord or Froy chain him to death on every stock despite his time manipulation they can beat him, how small the window is to stop him ultimately puts the set over to top. Smady’s No Strangelove entry is arguably stronger as it only loses Neutrality Zone and its advantaged over US’ anyway, the only difference in Smady’s was a singular Nair and I felt US came close enough in the final arguments he deserves the honorable mention here.

Hardcore Challenge- MasterWarlord

Warlord was the only one to participate in the hardcore challenge sadly, but it can’t be said his entry fails to deliver. He can make the opponent but better, and be able to freely swap between himself and them via Down Special. He has a near infinite range attack with more or less no lag and instant KO properties from the almighty Granfaloon DSmash, which is more or less a ball of 1000 captain falcons slamming into the ground. He can turn the opponent into a PSABR set, which is one of the single most evil things I have ever heard in MYM history. He also has all the fun of his base set on top of this, and a complete immunity to grabs if god forbid you somehow manage to grab him via the incredibly goofy Anne grab mechanic.

Single MYM Challenge- MasterWarlord

Warlord was also the only one to enter this challenge, providing a fairly brutal combination of MYM7 sets to augment the already powerful Strangelove. It also features a few other treats, like killing the opponent by zipping to the blast zone with an impaled foe at 4.5x Sonic’s dash speed, using an exploit with Zubat to copy Lizard’s Up Special and make it even faster. While its lack of control makes it a bit flawed in the main challenge, its not going to matter nearly as much when you’re simply using it to dump the opponent to their death and don’t need especially precise positioning. It also features Bomber Factory to make him far harder to kill than Dr. Strangelove himself, and the infinite range move that also infinites in Valozarg’s Jab that Smady ultimately used to beat UserShadow.

Smash Only Challenge- MasterWarlord

While Warlord and Muno did compete in this challenge and Muno has ways of beating Warlord’s extremely powerful high range Shine, I feel Warlord is ultimately going to destroy people more quickly and effectively. The combination of QAC and Shine is a monstrous thing, and Ganondorf’s Side B allows for even more infinites of the variety that don’t care about shields while still being crazy fast. Muno’s ability to fight while in hitstun however, made me convinced to give him something of an honorable mention here, and he will also get an article.

Debate Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/0s1ituJC

Thank all of you so much for participating in my ridiculous little thought experiment. Its been great fun hearing all of you talk about your plans, and the various horrific interactions that these MYM sets create when combined. It reminds me of the best of glitch abusing speedruns and horrifically broken metagames, which is what I sought to emulate in this challenge and you guys delivered. Not sure if I’ll ever make a challenge like this again, but with participation like this it certainly makes me want too. So thank you MasterWarlord, Smash Daddy, FrozenRoy, UserShadow, and Munomario. And as a final thing:

I owe MasterWarlord 3 articles on moveset of his chosing.

I owe Smash Daddy 1 article on the moveset of his chosing, and he can make an additional request in regards to the article as he won the main challenge.

I owe UserShadow 1 article on the moveset of his chosing.

I owe Munomario 1 article on the moveset of his chosing.

And as a little bonus, if Froy can make an 8 star or higher set for me before the end of the contest, he gets 1 article on the moveset of his chosing too. If I move the set down later that’s on me not you FYI, as we’ve historically had that happen to your sets with me several times and I apologize for that.
